F***ed up title, I know. But it’s actually my best attempt to describe what the Norwegian band Ulver is doing.
First a black metal band, then an electronica act, then noise/glitch geeks, then sound track composers and now a full blown music freak show. Avantgarde? You bet. And cool as hell (not a great metaphor, to be honest). However, Ulver plays tomorrow night in Aarhus at Voxhall – and I’ll be there enjoying every minute.
Saw the movie Bronson recently and loved it! It’s made by Nicolas Winding Refn (who is Denmarks best director, in my opinion).
One of the songs from the film’s soundtrack stuck with me. It’s a synthy 80′es track called Digital Versicolor by the duo Glass Candy from their latest record Beat Box.
Things are pointing backwards in time. But going backwards rarely means ending up where you started. The sound of my newly aquired drum machine is of course smeared all over the sample.
