<p>The movie itself is spectacular, but absolutely not a crowd pleaser. Very arty. As the protagonist is a mute viking thrall (played by Mads Mikkelsen) the dialogue does very little to move the film forward. Instead it heavily relies on the crisp photography to tell the story&#8230; but what really struck me is how well the the music fits every scene, displaying the emotions of the main character.</p>
<p>The music is written by Peter Peter (of Sort Sol fame) and Peter Kyed (of <a href="I've previously written about the Danish movie director Nikolaj Winding Refn and his great movies. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>F***ed up title, I know. But it&#8217;s actually my best attempt to describe what the Norwegian band <a href="http://www.jester-records.com/ulver/">Ulver</a> is doing.</p>
<p>First a black metal band, then an electronica act, then noise/glitch geeks, then sound track composers and now a full blown music freak show. Avantgarde? You bet. And cool as hell (not a great metaphor, to be honest, but it fits). Ulver plays tomorrow night in Aarhus at Voxhall &#8211; and I&#8217;ll be there enjoying every minute.</p>
